Outerwear deals from 30% to 50%

Finding great deals is so easy when I’m on Shopilly, I just go to my window shopping page and browse.  To my pleasant surprise, right when I feel like Fall is getting underway, I’ve found some great deals on outerwear!  Woohoo!

The best deal I found was 50% off outerwear at Forever21.  Get an uber trendy, light on the wallet coat to wear this winter and when the trend becomes faux pas in 6 months you can send it off to goodwill with no hard feelings!

Two other deals all offering 30% off:

30% off outerwear at Arden B.

30% off your entire purchase at Ann Taylor stores.

Beauty Fab 5: Blood Red Lips

Image

In the spirit of Halloween (and just in time for Sephora’s Spin To Win Friends & Family Sale, happening right now) dip into the dark side with deep rouge pouts, which were rampant on the Fall ‘12 runways. It’s a sultry, sophisticated look that’s spot on for the season’s moody ensembles. To get it just right, find a shade that complements your skin tone, and try keep the rest of your makeup minimal—think clean skin and lightly lined eyes with just a wand’s worth of mascara.

Here, we raided Sephora to cull out the best in blood red lipsticks so you can get that just-bitten look. (Click here to give their game a whirl and you may score them at a sweet discount, to boot!)

Gucci                                    Saint Laurent                        Nina Ricci

1. BEST OVERALL
Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture in Blood Red, $32

Kiss pale lips goodbye in this rich shade, blended with just enough brightness to flatter most complexions. Plus, a cocktail of moisturizing hydrospheres ensure lips stay soft and supple.

2. BEST FOR PALE COMPLEXIONS
Nars lipstick in Fire Down Below, $24

Make your pout pop in deep rouge if you have lighter skin tone. This one by Nars has a velvety, semi-matte finish, which will make lips appear fuller, too.

3. BEST FOR DARKER SKIN TONES
Kat Von D Painted Love Lipstick in Rosary, $19

Vamp it up in something smoldering with chocolate undertones, such as a rich, creamy burgundy.

4. BEST LIPGLOSS
Ellis Faas Glazed Lips in Blood Red, $35

Shine all evening with this dangerously intense lip glaze. We love how our smooch stayed glossy (even through two cocktails) without feeling sticky or having to reapply.

5. BEST SHEER FORMULA
Bite Beauty Sheer Balm in Carmine, $19

Get kissable lips with this sheer tinted balm, packed with antioxidants and natural moisturizers such as organic mint and blood orange oil to keep your mouth healthy.

A New Way to Window Shop

For me, the phrase “window shopping” conjures up thoughts of snowy sidewalks and the famed holiday window displays of New York City.

Though I’ve never lived in New York, I’ve always loved to window shop, even if these days, my increasingly busy life makes it difficult to actually do so.

Luckily, just as we’re rounding the corner to the holiday season, Shopilly now makes it easy for me to indulge in an exciting new form of window-shopping. Whenever I have a free moment, I find myself going back to the site to browse through my favorite brands.

You can think of Shopilly as your visual inbox for everything shopping-related – great deals from your favorite brands, a history of your past purchases, receipts that you might otherwise easily misplace and – of course – a little virtual window shopping on the side.

Here’s a short guide to getting started on Shopilly:

  1. Sign up for an account. You’ll get to choose your Shopilly email address, which you can…
  2. …give out whenever you are asked for an email address while shopping online or in stores. By doing this, you’ll reduce the clutter in your personal email inbox.
  3. You can also clean up your personal email inbox retroactively – simply let Shopilly automatically import emails from your other accounts into Shopilly, and you’ll see them in your Visual Inbox.
  4. Now that your inboxes are organized, begin shopping with a clean slate. Visit the Shopilly Brands tab to explore brands in categories such as Travel, Home and Beauty, just to name a few. You can bookmark your favorite brands by following them.
  5. Then comes my favorite part of Shopilly – visit the Window Shop tab to view offers from your favorite brands. It’s as if you had a personal shopper bringing sales from your favorite stores right to your door! You can do all of your shopping directly from your Shopilly account, and once you’ve checked out using your Shopilly email address, your purchase(s) will appear in the My Purchases tab.

There you have it – your entire shopping life transformed. But I do worry a bit – is there such a thing as a window shopaholic?

Fall’s Most Wanted

Soft spun cashmere. Sumptuous leather boots. And layers, layers, layers! Thanks to just-right temps and stores brimming with new arrivals, there’s no time like fall that inspires us to put our most stylish foot forward. Want to give your look a quick update? Reach for these lovely layers to carry you through the season (and beyond).

1. The ultimate fall accessory? A long, luxurious scarf to layer over jackets, dresses and knits. We love this one by Acne ($140, net-a-porter.com), crafted of super-soft wool in a deep camel hue that lends a touch of richness to any outfit.

2. We’ll be wearing this dazzling necklace by Zara ($30, zara.com) with everything from jeans and a tee to our favorite LBD into holiday soiree season. (Because sometimes a girl needs sparkle.)

3. Swap your dark leather handbag for something more vibrant, such as Cambridge Satchel Company’s leather crossbody ($158, asos.com). The clean, simple shape makes it ideal for both work and weekends, while the cherry red hue adds a cheerful pop of color.

4. Don’t put away your summer clothes just yet—rework pieces, such as a billowy maxi skirt, into your fall wardrobe. Pair this one by J.Crew ($475, jcrew.com) with a shrunken leather jacket, wooly scarf and boots and—voila!—an unexpected cool combo.

5. Brown leather riding boots (such as Topshop’s, $180, topshop.com) are a quintessential fall staple for good reason—they’re comfortable, pair as easily with tucked skinny jeans as they do a flirty mini, and no matter how many years pass, they’ll never go out of style.

6. Elevate your basics with animal prints. This floaty skirt by Wren ($250, bonadrag.com) is sure to add an instant dose of glamour to a black turtleneck and tights or boots and a shrunken blazer.

7. Finally, if there’s one piece you splurge on this season, make it a classic, go-everywhere jacket, such as this cashmere blazer by Burberry Prorsum ($2,460, farfetch.com. Swoon). Treat it like a top and wear it belted with a pencil skirt or black stovepipes now, then layered underneath a warm vest or coat once it gets colder. The timeless shape, luxurious fabric and ultra-flattering fit ensures you’ll keep it in your closet forever.

Our First Week in Review

What a whirlwind first week it’s been for Shopilly!  We launched our site to great reviews from friends & family, new users and the media.

Starting with the simple yet radical idea of re-imagining email, our founder Anirban Datta has built an amazing team to bring this idea to life.

We’re thrilled to see the early positive reactions, including articles in Fast Company, MSNBC, and the San Francisco Chronicle — and emails and comments from lots of our early users.

Please keep the reviews and the feedback coming — we’re listening. And this is just the beginning for Shopilly. We’ll have plenty of news to share in the weeks and months ahead.

So stay tuned…

To Unsubscribe, or Not To Unsubscribe?

By Xenia Shih

I’m not sure exactly when, but at some point in time, checking my email cemented its place in my morning routine. Along with brushing my teeth and brewing a strong cup of coffee, I instinctively sign-in to Gmail every morning — only to be inundated by a virtual flood of new emails.

Overnight, my inbox transforms from its obsessively organized and filtered state into a labyrinth of deal-related emails and e-newsletters. I only have myself to blame for this inbox chaos, since I signed up for all of this stuff in the first place.

Plus, I could easily put a stop to all of this by unsubscribing from these communications, but as someone who values staying on top of the latest news, trends and deals, I can’t seem to convince myself to click ‘unsubscribe.’

Some might consider this an example of the digital era phenomenon “Fear of Missing Out” (FOMO). What if I unsubscribe from LivingSocial’s e-mails and then miss an incredible deal at a restaurant I’ve been meaning to try for ages? What if my favorite denim brand sells out in a Gilt Groupe sale that I hear about two hours too late?

My never-ending battle managing my inbox (pristine inbox by night; overflowing chaos by day) is just one of the reasons I’m excited to be part of Shopilly. I can’t wait to have all of my shopping and deal-related messages consolidated in one place — especially since that one place will no longer be my Gmail inbox.

Not only will it make shopping easier and more convenient for me, but I’ll be able to wake up every morning, brush my teeth, brew my coffee, and check my email in peace.

P.S. Excited about Shopilly too? Don’t miss out — reserve your Shopilly ID before it’s too late (this is one time you should listen to your FOMO!).
